The age old debate rages on.....Which Scoring System Do YOU Prefer?
Do we switch to PAR Scoring (Point-A-Rally) or do we stick with the standard scoring system where-by you can only score if you served the ball?
Currently we use both (PAR 15 in the P Leagues, Standard in all others). In fact even in team matches, the Herts Leagues use PAR, while Essex Leagues use Standard.
There are strong arguments for both:
- Standard scoring can get stuck on the same point
- PAR scoring speeds the game up
- Standard scoring allows the occasional mistake for lower standard players
- PAR scoring forces you to concentrate and attack more
- More people are used to Standard Scoring
- PAR scoring is easier to understand for those new to the game
