Representing the Girls Under 13’s is Hannah Mulvey. Seeded at 9/16, anyone who has seen Hannah play in recent months will agree she has improved considerably under the careful watch ofcoach Lauren Selby.

Brogan Lane, now in the Girls Under 17’s (doesn’t time fly?) is seeded at 5/8. Again, the last twelve months have seen Brogan asserting her skills in both the internal leagues and national/international tournaments. We should see some interesting results from Brogan.

BroganNickThe Duracel Bunny, better known as Nick Mulvey will represent BSSC at the 5/8 seeding in Boys Under 17’s and joining him there for the first time as a Stortford player will be new member Jack Jago. Jack, as you may recall from one of our recent articles, stole the Under 17’s crown in the recent Birmingham Open a few weeks ago, so here’s hoping that Nick and Jack can bring back some silverware again.

And last but not least, local cheeky chappy, Charlie Johnson. Still riding high on his Birmingham Open win, Charlie is hoping to cause a few upsets in the Boys Under 19’s.

The Tournament will run using the “MONRAD” draw system. For those not familiar with it, it looks very much like a straight draw, however, players are not knocked out when they lose, but only relegated to a lower position. The advantage is that every player is able to play in every round and so every result has the chance of improving their final position.

Due to this style of draw, Hannah will find herself facing the ¾ seed in the second round if she wins her first match and Brogan and Nick will face the 1st string players in the 3rd round if they win their first two matches, but poor ol’ Charlie looks like he drew the short straw………un-seeded, he plays the 2nd string player in the first round!

We will of course be wishing them all the very best. Good Luck!

We are pleased to confirm that as from 1st July 2010 Andrew Mulvey has officially been appointed the club’s new manager, having taken over the position from Karen Selby.

Although this is a complete change of direction for him (having worked for the same Investment Management Company for the past 23 years turning his hand to many different tasks along the way), in his “spare time” he has been very actively involved in the squash world.
