New Club Management from 1st October 2007

After four highly successful years as our Manager Jason Foster is leaving the area to relocate to Derbyshire. Jason has been with the Club since his days as a junior player and has graduated to become a highly successful player and manager.

As a player Jason won the Herts County Championships on two occasions and the Herts County +35 title in 2005. He represented the county as captain on numerous occasions and won international honours for England in 2005. He led the Club to both Herts and Essex league championships over the past four successive years and in 2006 led us to win the UK National Club Championships in Nottingham, a title which enabled the Club to represent England in the European Club Championships in Sweden where we reached the final.

As Manger Jason attracted world class players to the Club including squash legends such as Peter Nicol MBE and Jonah Barrington and has managed prestigious events at the Club on behalf ofJASON FOSTER, CLUB MANAGER England Squash, most notably the British Junior Championships in 2004 and 2006 and the Herts Junior Open Championships in 2007. Under his leadership the Club won the highest accolade in the sport in 2007 when England Squash awarded us ‘Squash Club of the Year’.  Jason vacates his position at the end of September and said "I am very proud of what has been achieved at the Club. On a national level putting the name of Bishops Stortford Squash Club on the map and in particular raising the  profile of the game in the area through hosting many sporting and social events and taking squash into schools.  On a personal level I would like to thank the Club Chairman David Sciberras, the Committee , John Preston and the Members for their support and wish the new management team every success in taking the Club forward".

Jason will be a hard act to follow but in the new management team of Karen and Paul Selby who take over on 1 October, we can look forward to further success and development. Karen is an experienced sports administrator who has held senior roles at England Squash, The English Federation of Disability Sport and SportEssex. Paul Selby is a highly regarded and successful squash coach who has worked a county and national levels with juniors and world ranked senior professionals. He is also a director of the UK Squash Academy, a new and exciting development in promoting and coaching aspiring professional squash players.

The Selbys have been associated with the Club since 1982 and are a squash family with their three children Daryl, Lauren and Elliot all nationally ranked players. Daryl currently ranked 36 in the world recently won the international tournament at the cub during the week long Festival of Squash. On accepting the appointment Karen Selby said "I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to manage the Club. Although Jason is a hard act to follow, I am looking forward to the challenge and building on the success that he has achieved in developing a really great Club."

Chairman Dave Sciberras commented " Its sad to lose Jason as our Manager. He has done great things over the past four years and the Club has progressed to become a major force in UK squash under his stewardship. We wish Jason, Lisa and Savannah happiness and good fortune for the future and will be delighted to see them whenever they are in the area. Looking forward to Karen & Paul Selby as our new management team, we are thrilled to welcome such an experienced and talented team who have been associated with the Club for many years and with UK and international squash. We have been truly fortunate in the past and the future. "
