WELCOME TO OUR NEW CLUB MANAGER!
Many of you will already know that after 4 years at the helm, Jason is hanging up his Bishop’s Stortford squash racquet for pastures new with his family in Derby. Jason has always been committed to making this club one of the most successful in the country and the fact that we were awarded club of the year is recognition of this achievement. He has always believed that the juniors are the future and his support has been invaluable. We would like to thank him for all his dedication and hard work and wish him every success in his new ventures.
As from today, our new leader is Karen Selby. Her husband Paul is already a familiar face to several of our juniors as he takes our advanced session and will now be the club’s resident professional coach. Karen brings with her a wealth of experience and fresh ideas and will be a true asset to what is already an enviable squash club. Her children were juniors here and her eldest son Daryl (now 25!) is currently ranked no.31 in the world so she understands first hand how important the juniors are and looks forward to meeting you all over the next couple of weeks. We would like to offer her a warm welcome to our club and hope she will be very happy here.

JUNIOR COMMITTEE
At this year’s Annual General Meeting three juniors suggested that there should be a junior representative on the club committee. Although everyone agreed that the juniors should have a voice on the committee, the overall consensus was that considering the times, venue and general matters (i.e. boring!) discussed at these meetings this may not be a viable proposition. However, it was agreed that a separate junior committee run by the juniors could be a solution. Three of our boys have since been working on a constitution for setting up such a committee and it has been agreed that meetings shall take place regularly on Saturday mornings in line with the next full committee meeting. John Beattie, (club representative on the Herts junior committee) and Catherine Mulvey (junior section representative) have been asked and have agreed to attend these meetings and submit the juniors’ opinions accordingly. The constitution states that any junior who has held a full or off-peak membership for at least 6 months and is still an active member is eligible to stand for committee membership. If you would like to become a representative of the juniors on the committee, please could you e-mail Nick Mulvey who will register your interest with the other founder members.
